A--EDWARD PARFREY was born abt 1831 in Livermere, Suffolk, England. His death was registered Q4 1902 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England. Livermere is near Bury St Edmunds, a more populous area, but nothing can be found about Edward's ancestry. At his marriage in 1852, the form reads that his father was named William who was deceased by that year. Several researchers are trying to find out more about him, as the online forums show. For the most part, Edward's family spelled their surname "Parfery."
Edward married ELLEN MARY WARD and the marriage was registered Q4 1852 in Wisbeach St Peter, Cambridgeshire. Ellen, who was at least once referred to as Eleanor, was born about 1833 in Walpole St Peter, Norfolk and her death was registered Q3 1922 in Wisbech. The "Melton Family Tree" at Ancestry.com gives her parents' names as WILLIAM WARD and MARY REED.

B--WILLIAM WARD PARFREY (Edward--A) was born in 1853 and his birth registered in the 3rd Quarter of the year in Wisbeach, Cambridgeshire, England. His death was registered Q2 1919 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Not much is known about William, except that he was evidently a Farm Hand who worked with horses. The Censuses which we consulted are speculative, and may not be his record at all. Further information is welcome.
William, who was living in Islington, Norfolk, married SUSAN BALLS, of Snettisham, 13 Oct 1881, at St Mary church in Tilney cum Islington, Norfolk, England. She stated on her marriage record that her father's name was WILLIAM BALLS, and he was a labourer. William's name on the record was William Ward Parfary, and the ceremony was witnessed by George Parfery and Sarah Balls. Susan may have been called Susannah.

C--ROBERT PARFERY (Edward--A) was born about 1857, and his birth was registered Q4 of that year in Wisbeach, Cambridgeshire, with the spelling "Parbfery". Some time before 1886, he moved to East Yorkshire, where he married twice and was shown in 1901 and 1911 Censuses. Robert's death was registered Q1 1925 in York. He used the spelling PARFERY throughout his life.
Robert married, first, ELLEN QUINN, who was born in Yorkshire. They registered the marriage Q2 1886, in York. Ellen's death might have been the one registered Q3 0f 1905 in York.

D--GEORGE PARFREY (Edward--A) was born 13 Jun 1860 in Emneth, Norfolk and was baptized 13 Jul 1862 at St Peter church in Walpole, Norfolk, England. He may have died in 1907, but the registration age is some two-three years off (1857). There is some confusion in the records left behind for George, and he is the subject of several searches by ancestors using forums to compare notes. Ancestry.com has a few submitted family trees for George, and he is said to have married Mary Ann Tabor. Children shown as his with Mary Ann all seem to have been born before their parents' marriage, leaving several questions unanswered.
George was shown with his parents in 1861 and 1871, then on his own as a single man in 1881. In 1891, we find him married with two daughters. Then in 1901, he claims to be married to Mary Ann, and they have four children, ages 10 months to 9 years.
George must have married, first, ELIZABETH WEST, the marriage registered Q4 1884 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. George's surname was spelled "Parfery." According to the 1891 Census, Elizabeth was born in Beechamwell, Norfolk. She may have been the daughter of Charles and Harriet West of Beechamwell, and baptized 21 Feb 1869. She would have been just sixteen at her marriage. She may have had a brother, Henry, who married a Mary Ann. Henry and his wife and one son lived beside George and Elizabeth, who also had an 8-year-old girl visiting - Edith West, born in East Bilney. Henry was born in Beechamwell, just as Elizabeth was.

It appears that George then married MARY ANN TABOR, and the marriage was registered in Q4 of 1903 in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Mary Ann was born in Black Drove, Lincolnshire, probably around 1870. The 1901 Census in which she and George are found, does not show ages for any of the wives on the page. But in 1911, she was a widow of 41, and she had an additional two children. And, the census form showed that she had listed two more daughters, both named Alice Maud, and both of whom had died young. These were crossed out. Her widowhood in 1911 would support the record of death for George in 1907 (Q3, age 50, North Witchford, Cambridgeshire).
Comparing census reports and vital records, we see that George and Mary Ann had several children, some of whom were born quite sometime before their marriage. In addition, another child, named Violet M. Parfrey, whose birth was registered Q3 1911 in North Witchford, was said to have a mother's maiden name of Tabor... This would be well after George's possible death in 1907, so perhaps we have speculated incorrectly. It is unknown if George's first wife had died a short time after the 1891 Census, or if George could have been living a double life, or if Mary Ann had children before marrying George, and after his death, or ???

E--THOMAS PARFREY (Edward--A) was born in 1866 in Cambridgeshire, England. There are three entries in the Civil Registration books for the 2nd quarter of that year, two with the name "Parfery" and one under "Parbfery." He died 30 Dec 1943, in March, Cambridgeshire. Thomas worked for the Railway as a Signalman. An 1881 Census for Terrington, Norfolk, England, shows a 14-year-old named "John T. Parfrey" born in Thomas' hometown, working as a Farm Servant on the Farm of Stephen Locke. No other record gives him the name John, but it could be this Thomas.
Thomas married RUTH LEVERINGTON 10 Jul 1893 at St Peter church in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Ruth's birth was registered Q3 1868 in Wisbeach and her death Q1 1959 in March, Cambridgeshire. She stated on the marriage papers that her father's name was MATTHEW, and he was a Farmer. It is possible Matthew was married to RUTH COULSON in 1855, Wisbeach.

F--EDWARD PARFREY (Edward--A) was born in 1869, and his birth was registered Q1 of that year in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. His death was registered Q2 1950 in Wisbech. Edward was a farm labourer.
Edward married SARAH ELIZABETH HUNT on 14 Oct 1890, at St Peter church in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Sarah's birth probably was registered Q2 1870 in Wisbeach, and her death may have been registered in Northamptonshire, Q2 1954.
